Corrine Day

As a part of my university course we were given photographers to research. One of those photographers was Corinne Day. Sadly Corinne has passed away but she has left behind a legacy of work. Corinne Day is well known for the photographs taken of Kate Moss. Kate Moss is one of the worlds most well know models and she became quite close to Corrine Day.

In the photographs Kate looks relaxed and laid back, she has little to no makeup on which makes the photographs look natural. The photographs are not of the best quality which I personally like. I think it gives the photo's a different mood compared to the high budget studio styles of work.

In Corrine's later work she starts to explore with colour. Her photographs still remain natural and realistic but with the added detail of the colour. The editorial below was from May 2004 Vogue magazine. The editorial was featured around different styles of dance. Moulin Rouge is a film that I think reflects the aesthetic of the editorial quite well. The main model is the star of the editorial and the other models are almost props. The other models are faced away from the camera and the main model is always looking towards it, this makes her stand out. The location is backstage of a theatre as there are lots of props in the photograph that would suggest so. There are lots of pops of colour that stand out in the photograph e.g. the ochre and green. This is not my favourite work of Corinne Day's, I personally prefer her work with Kate Moss as it was different and unique from other photographers work at that time, I also think it showed Kate Moss in a different light which is why it was such a popular photo shoot. I think there are a number of photographers that have based photo shoots around backstage theatre which makes this photo shoot bland.

This is another editorial from Corrine but this time it incorporates a 'Bohemian' theme, I think that this suites Corrine's natural no makeup aesthetic
